Passion Fruit Chilli Margarita

Contrary to what you might imagine, Passion Fruit doesn’t allude to the heat of the act of love – even if the chilli in this cocktail may help in this regard – rather, it refers to a deeper act of devotion. When catholic missionaries first came across this strange fruit in 16th century Brazil, they felt that its flowers resembled the five wounds inflicted during the Crucifixion central to the Passion of the Christ – hence the name.

Clementines are a Christmas staple, it would be hard to imagine the Holiday Season without this citrusy delight. Besides being in season during the Northern hemisphere’s winter and giving us some extra vitamin C that we need so much more in the cold weather, it also cuts nicely through all the fatty food that we eat at Christmas.
